Why did you decide to study an MBA?

I decided to study an MBA because I believe the MBA gave me flexibility and choice to do what I wanted to do in my career. It gave me the option of whether I wanted to work for a corporate company or whether I wanted to run my own private company in Perth.

How are you applying the skills you’ve learned from the MBA in your current role?

The skills I learned in my MBA have transformed the way I run my own business. It has become the foundation for everything that I do, whether it’s managing people or managing finances throughout my business. It really has changed how I perceive my business and also where I want to take it from here.

I’m applying the skills I learnt throughout my MBA journey in my current role through various means, whether it’s managing people or managing the strategy of our business. In particular with the strategy, it’s really given me the foresight to go deep into our business and really question how we run it and the strategy behind what we do. I think the key learnings from the actual MBA study has allowed me to expand on my current knowledge and be able to grow for the future.

Would you attribute any of your career success to having done the MBA?

Whilst it’s still early in my journey, I definitely attribute where I am today due to the skills that I have learned and obtained throughout my MBA journey. People see my leadership skills have evolved since I’ve started. I’m now managing a bigger team. Also, the skill set that I apply towards the finances in my business has definitely changed.

What were the best aspects of being able to study online with the AIB?

One of the best aspects of being able to study online with the Australian Institute of Business is the flexibility it provides you. To be able to juggle your work commitments and your family commitments and still commit enough time to be able to put in the work and undertake the learnings required for the MBA.
