With a sense of ambition that had been bubbling for life, Belinda Kembol, an AIB Graduate from Papua New Guinea had always had a passion for investing in herself.

Graduating in late 2019, Belinda has climbed her way up the corporate ladder, most recently to the position of Chief Financial Controller at Trans Wonderland Limited.

What was your motivation to start an MBA?

I’ve always been an ambitious person from the outset, so I always wanted to go higher in my level of education. And after doing my undergrad, I started out with Price Waterhouse Coopers. I then when went up the ladder and I came out to went to corporate in the oil and gas industry.  I wanted to do a bit more to get myself the top level of management.

Why did you choose AIB?

I was looking for MBA courses online, and chose AIB as it was all 100% online – I didn’t want to move out of the country. And because I work full time, I took the course that was convenient for me at that time.

Do you attribute your studies to any successes?

Definitely. Attaining the MBA set me head and shoulders above my peers at the company. They promoted me to the CFO role, the Chief Financial Officer in the organisation for the group. So, that definitely helped me to go one up above all my peers and also striving to get to top positions within the company. So yes, it definitely helped.

How does it feel to graduate?

It’s like it’s sinking in now, and all those sleepless nights have paid off. It’s great. It’s an achievement and I’m really proud.
