Within the AIB MBA, Strategic Human Resource Management is a Core subject that focuses on the business of people – the driving force behind the success of any organisation. As highlighted by the key shifts driven by the innovation and technology boom of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the prevalence of the intergenerational workplace; it is imperative that managers and professionals at all levels in organisations have a strategic understanding of Human Resource Management.
The subject explores the continuously evolving nature of work and the challenges and opportunities this presents for organisations in meeting the strategic needs of a diverse workforce and equips students with an understanding of the role that a robust Human Resource (HR) strategy plays in driving a competitive edge for organisations through attracting, retaining, and developing the best employees.
AIB’s Strategic Human Resource Management subject also aims to equip students with a proactive approach to people management instead of relying on traditional and reactive HR practices. With a strategic focus at the organisational level; students will evaluate and identify not just the current needs of their organisations but also consider the short, medium, and long-term future HR needs and devise strategies to address them. Students will also be equipped with an advanced understanding of HR theories and frameworks and will be able to apply what they have learned in practice to identify and solve complex organisational HR challenges.
