There is a global trend towards embracing environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives in corporate reporting. However, stakeholders are becoming more sceptical about the credibility of the claims made by firms through deceptive marketing about their green initiatives. This article aims to highlight some recent cases of ‘greenwashing’ that have come into the limelight in the Australian and Canadian context and are changing the paradigm of the ESG framework in these countries. In doing so, this article will also critically analyse the move to make ESG disclosures mandatory or voluntary and unfold the direction ahead.

It explores how these companies’ origins, business models and alignment with national cybersecurity frameworks shape their strategies. Blackberry’s focused transition to cybersecurity contrasts with Telstra’s broad market dominance. Both companies navigate unique challenges in a rapidly evolving industry, reflecting national priorities in data security and infrastructure protection.​

​​​​​​This review compares the monetary policies of Australia and Canada since 2020, focusing on their responses to COVID-19. Both countries used aggressive rate cuts and quantitative easing to stimulate their economies, which later contributed to inflation spikes. The analysis covers economic impacts and discusses how central bank actions have influenced inflation and unemployment rates in both countries. 

​​Innovation-Led Foreign Direct Investment: A Comparison of Australia and Canada

​​​​Utilising the Global Innovation Index (GII) and applying comparative analysis for a period from 2013 to 2023, we discover interesting findings regarding the investment environments for innovation-led Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction in Australia and Canada: (i) The innovation gap between two countries has significantly widened since 2018; (ii) overall, Canada exhibits stronger innovation performance; and (iii) Australia’s notable strengths for innovation include human capital and research, institutions and creative output.
