Do I need to bring my parchment with me on the day?

Receiving your parchment on stage

Your parchment and transcript have already or will be mailed to you in the months following the completion of your degree. Due to this, official documentation will not be presented to you on the day of graduation.

Upon walking across the graduation stage, you will be presented with a generic parchment scroll for the purpose of your stage photo. This scroll will not be personalised individually with your name but is yours to keep as a momento of the day.

Graduands name on parchment

Your full legal name, as recorded in the AIB student management system, will appear on the parchment and official academic transcript and this is what will be read out on the day. If you wish to change your name from what is recorded in the student management system, you will be required to provide a certified true copy of legal documentation by the cut-off date, as noted in your course completion email.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you wish to provide the phonetic spelling of your name, please ensure you include this when asked as you are confirming your ticket purchase. If you have any questions regarding this, please email graduation@aib.edu.au.

What do I wear on the day?

It is compulsory for graduands participating in a graduation ceremony to wear the appropriate AIB academic regalia. The hire fee is included in the graduand ticket price and when you place your order you will be able to select your size and height – this will enable us to ensure you have the correct size on the day.

It is important to note the gown is black in colour, and open at the front, therefore what you are wearing underneath is visible.  It is for this reason we recommend you wear business attire, and comfortable shoes.  If the day is warm, you may want to remove your jacket as the gowns are quite heavy and it may get hot in the auditorium.

We ask that you please return your hire items straight after the ceremony, apart from your mortarboard, which is yours to keep! Unfortunately, if they are not returned to us, you will be invoiced the full replacement cost of the academic regalia.
