Roman’s professional background includes experience in seven major industries: Post-Secondary Education, Government Administration, Nonprofit Management, Medicine and currently, with a group of Financial Services/Insurance companies and co-operative.

Roman is the Senior Manager, Governance and Assistant Secretary for The Co-operators Group Limited. He provides strategic leadership, advice and counsel to achieve organisational governance excellence while enabling the Board of Directors, its committees and senior management to fulfil their governance accountabilities, and ensure the effectiveness of the Enterprise Governance Office. In addition to serving as a corporate and cooperative governance expert, Roman is a key liaison between the Board and senior management to ensure Co-operators demonstrates compliance adherence and sound risk management oversight to uphold the integrity of the governance framework.

Roman has an impressive educational and professional services background; he holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Criminology and Sociology from Western University; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Australian Institute of Business; and is currently completing his Master of Laws degree (LL.M) in Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School – York University. Roman has also obtained his Governance Professionals of Canada designation (GPC.D) and Certified in Management designation (C.I.M.).

An active member and contributor in his community, Roman currently sits as the Board Chairperson for the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation; Board Second Vice-chairperson and Governance Committee Chairperson for the Middlesex Hospital Alliance; Owner Representative and Director Recruitment Committee Chairperson for Libro Credit Union; and, previously sat on two committees of Strathroy-Caradoc Municipal Council, one of which he was the Vice-chairperson. Roman also enjoys guest lecturing on his extensive research on Human Trafficking and Governance best practice.

Roman can assist with strategic leadership, advice, and counsel to achieve organisational governance excellence and effectiveness while enabling individuals to fulfil their governance accountabilities. In addition, he can help with demonstrating compliance adherence and sound risk management oversight to uphold the integrity of the governance framework.
