Roman is a seasoned professional with a rich and diverse background spanning eight major industries: student government, government administration, non-profit management, medicine, co-operatives, insurance, financial services, and freight/package transportation. Currently, he serves as the Director & Assistant Corporate Secretary at Purolator Inc., where he provides strategic leadership and expert counsel to achieve organizational governance excellence and effectiveness.
In this capacity, Roman enables the Board of Directors, its committees, and senior management to fulfill their governance accountabilities. He also ensures the effectiveness of the Office of the Corporate Secretariat and Enterprise Governance functions, safeguarding compliance, risk oversight, and governance integrity. As a recognized expert in corporate and co-operative governance, Roman acts as a vital liaison between Boards and senior leadership, driving sound decision-making and adherence to best practices.
Roman’s impressive educational background underscores his commitment to excellence. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminology and Sociology from Western University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Institute of Business, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. In addition, Roman is designated as a Governance Professional of Canada (GPC.D) and Certified in Management (C.I.M.).
Beyond his professional pursuits, Roman is a passionate contributor to his community. He has served as Board Chairperson for the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation and as Second Vice-Chairperson and Governance Committee Chair for the Middlesex Hospital Alliance. Roman has also held leadership roles with Libro Credit Union, including serving as an Owner Representative, Director Recruitment Committee Chair, and Governance Review Taskforce Chair. Additionally, he has contributed to two committees of Strathroy-Caradoc Municipal Council, including one as Vice-Chairperson.
