Kaveen is a seasoned Finance executive, whose experiences are based on a variety of roles across geographies as well as several years of formal qualifications and trainings. Kaveen has worked in Senior Finance roles across several blue chips including BHP, Xstrata and Glencore. Since 2021, Kaveen has been in the role of Finance Director and Chief Finance Officer for Nathan River Resources, a mid-tier iron ore mining company.

In the last 15 years, Kaveen have been involved with the full life cycle of mining operations including start-up of new greenfield projects, expansion of brownfield, growth through mergers & acquisition, optimisation of existing operations and finally closure. Kaveen have also spent years in technical roles focussing on JV accounting, financial reporting and risk management.

Kaveen has a very deep-rooted interest in academia. He has been with the AIB since 2017 and has taught a range of financial and governance subjects. Kaveen played a lead role in the re-write of Financial Management in 2020. Students often describe Kaveen’s teaching style as one which is about contextualising academic content with real-life practical application. Through his unique style of student engagement, Kaveen was awarded the AIB 2020 Teaching Excellent Award, in the High Commendation category.

Aside from his CFO and teaching commitments, Kaveen serves on a number of Not-For-Profit Boards. In 2017, he was awarded “Best Treasurer Award” by the Commonwealth Bank, a national recognition for his work in the Not-For-Profit sector.
