The importance of accreditation when choosing your MBA
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing your MBA program – one of which is whether the provider has appropriate accreditations. Accreditation is not something to overlook; it helps to distinguish your degree from the rest, and ensures that it has value around the world. Many people do not understand the rigorous processes which higher education providers must go through in order to become accredited. If you would like to learn more about the importance of accreditation when choosing your MBA provider – read on.
Essentially, accreditation “is an endorsement provided by a trusted authority that validates the competence, credibility and integrity of the institution and courses they offer”. Otherwise said, accreditation ensures that qualifications around the world are of the same high standard. Those who graduate with an accredited degree can be assured that their qualification is of relevance, is highly respected and is recognised on both a national and global scale. Although you may only wish to work within your current country, possessing a degree with this global recognition will always be an asset to you.
There are a number of accreditations, listing and memberships which AIB have attained – here is a snapshot of a couple of them:
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
The AQF is a national framework which ensures that school, VET and higher education qualifications delivered by Australian providers maintain a high standard across the country. For higher education providers, the AQF means that qualifications remain consistent, and the title of the qualification (for example MBA) is protected. The MBA is not an easy degree to achieve, so protecting its status and ensuring it remains a prestigious degree is an important factor for us. For students, this also means your degree has undergone extensive testing to ensure that you are receiving the best education that you can.
Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA)
As an Australian Federal Government initiative, TEQSA aims “to create a smarter future for Australia by upholding standards for students”. In order to become a qualified higher education provider in Australia, the provider must meet very strict conditions when it comes to course content, material changes and the delivery of the program. TEQSA also acknowledges the different study methods available and covers the many diverse ways that higher education is delivered. Finally, TEQSA must also be satisfied that students are given every opportunity to be successful in their studies, meaning that they are receiving the best possible teaching method and course content available.
As mentioned above, appropriate accreditation when choosing your MBA is a very important step in the process. It ensures that the degree you graduate with is of the highest standard, and should certainly not be overlooked.
