Noel is now retired but has a background as a professional leader in industrial organisations especially in the Fuels and Lubricants industry with experience at senior management level in organisations such as Burmah Castrol, Shell and Caltex. Noel began his career as a teacher and departmental advisor in the Victorian Education department, before embarking on a career in the Fuels and Lubricants industry with senior roles throughout Australia.
In more recent times Noel has worked in the Australian University sector with James Cook University (JCU), initially with teaching roles in Cairns and Townsville campuses in northern Queensland. Success in these roles led to a succession of roles at JCU as Director MBA program, and Head of School (Business disciplines) with oversight responsibilities for campuses at Brisbane, Cairns, Singapore, and Townsville. Appointed as Academic Head JCU Singapore Noel along with other senior academics developed the initial years of the Singapore campus the first offshore initiative for JCU.
Noel maintains an interest in program and course development with recent contracts to develop or enhance business-related degree offering to providers in Brisbane. Noel’s teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that a good teacher inspires students through an active connection with students and an ability to ‘make’ the connection between the various theories and the application of such in the workplace.
Noel is a reasonably extroverted person, confident in the ‘classroom’ environment or the ‘workplace’. Noel’s dimensional strengthens revolve around problem-solving, strategic thinking, simply explaining complex business theories, and an ability to relate to all levels of an organisation and its people.
